What have you been doing since leaving Exeter, and what are you doing now?
I am a 35-year-old healthcare management professional and have been instrumental in scaling SMSRC & Group into a leading clinical intelligence organisation. With a passion for data-driven healthcare solutions and a methodical approach to leadership, I’ve played a key role in strengthening multiple businesses within the group — driving innovation, operational excellence, and customer-centric growth.
As President of SMSRC, Director at Medclin Research, and Chief Strategy Officer at Synaegis Healthtech, I have reinforced SMSRC’s position as a trusted intelligence partner for the pharmaceutical industry in India and Bangladesh. My focus spans developing advanced analytics, enhancing existing services, developing new services, leading digital transformation initiatives, building high-performing and motivated teams, and improving governance.
Immediately after graduating from Exeter and before joining the family business (SMSRC & Group), I worked at Credit Suisse as an equity research analyst and at Abbott in the project management office. During that time, I was consistently recognized as a top performer, earning top performing employee awards across 4 of 5 years. While at Credit Suisse, I was selected as a key young leader to represent the Mumbai office at the firm’s Zurich headquarters.
Why did you choose this career? And what do you enjoy most about your work?
I love creatively building meaningful solutions to address healthcare needs/problems in India. Currently I am focused on Pharma and Financial Institutions invested in Pharma, but going forward my mission will make me gradually branch out to other stakeholders too.
I love the process oriented problem solving element, the people management aspect, the building an organizational legacy aspect and so on. I am deliriously passionate about my work.
What did you enjoy most about your programme and what was the biggest highlight?
The subjects related to Econometrics (TSM). In today’s world of AI where Math/Stat is a key component, my subject is helping me tremendously now. I didn’t think of AI when choosing Financial Economics but in hindsight its a blessing.
My performance in the projects were very good – Both dissertation and the econometrics projects. I got hooked onto the world of research and enjoyed analysing data and uncovering solutions.
What did you most enjoy about studying here?
The professors, the peers, the facilities and the location – Exeter University is a fantastic educational package.
Why did you choose to study at Exeter?
Subject, curriculum, faculty of my choice and distinguished University ranking.
What skills and experiences have been most useful for your career?
Data Analytics, communication, and research especially across the entire curriculum.
What advice would you give to a current student who wishes to pursue your career?
Its intense so do it if you truly want to do it and working late hours will not be a complaint ever.
What are your plans for the future?
Build our organization into one of the leading intelligence organizations of the world, and publicly list it on the stock exchange.
