What have you been doing since leaving Exeter, and what are you doing now?
Since graduating from Exeter, I have been working as a sustainability consultant at JLL, working with investor and occupier clients across the real estate sector. My role primarily revolves around developing and setting decarbonisation strategies, assessing physical and transitional risks that may impact the client and reporting on sustainability related performance and targets.
Why did you choose this career? And what do you enjoy most about your work?
I was interested in sustainability within the built environment space as a result of conducting my masters thesis based around the current industry approaches to assessing and reducing embodied carbon levels within construction. I feel my current role has enabled me to work with large corporates at the centre of built environment decision making, helping to embed sustainability thinking and assess performance.
Why did you choose to study at Exeter?
I chose to study at Exeter because of the university’s excellent reputation for high-quality teaching and its innovative approach to course delivery. When researching MSc programmes, I was impressed by how well-structured and up-to-date the curriculum is, with a strong balance between theoretical foundations and practical application, all while being taught by lecturers that are leaders in their field. Exeter as a location also offered easy access to the coast and countryside, providing a great balance to academic life.
