What did you enjoy most about your degree programme?
What I enjoyed most about my degree programme was the opportunity to explore education in both broad and specialised ways. This programme transformed my vague ambition of ‘being a good educator’ into a clear and actionable vision of fostering creativity and inclusivity in teaching. By connecting theory with practice, I gained the tools and confidence to make meaningful impacts in diverse learning environments. It was an enriching experience that deepened my passion for Arts Education and shaped my future goals.
What was the highlight of your time at Exeter?
The highlight of my time at Exeter has undoubtedly been the incredible people I met along the way. Despite coming from completely different countries and backgrounds, my friends offered unwavering support during challenging times, and my professors inspired us with their open-mindedness and passionate teaching. Everyone I encountered, directly or indirectly, became a source of energy and growth for me. For this reason, I can confidently say that the people made my journey at Exeter truly special.
What will you miss the most about University?
The freedom to explore and take on new challenges as a student is something I will miss the most. Being a student allowed me to pursue my aspirations without hesitation, free from the constraints of a professional life. As I transition back into the working world, I know I’ll miss the bold, fearless mindset that came with being a student and the freedom to explore new possibilities.
What advice would you give to current and future students? (If you are an international student what would you like to tell future students from back home who might be thinking about applying to study in Exeter?)
If you’re starting your journey at Exeter, I would highly recommend participating in as many lectures and workshops offered by professors and school as possible. These opportunities will not only enhance your understanding of the academic culture here but also give you a deeper experience of learning. If there are volunteering opportunities available, get involved—it will be invaluable for your future. Additionally, don’t be shy—make an effort to engage with as many people as you can. Exeter is a “melting pot” of different nationalities, races, and backgrounds, creating a unique educational environment. I strongly suggest broadening your perspective by interacting with a diverse range of people during your time here.
What are your plans now that you have graduated?
Now that I have graduated, I plan to build my career as a skilled educator with my master’s degree. I am ready to seek opportunities that will allow me to grow, no matter where they are. From South Korea to the UK, I have gained confidence and resilience by completing my master’s degree in a second language, and I will use these experiences to shape my future.
