What have you been doing since leaving Exeter, and what are you doing now?
I worked briefly in the NHS as a psychological wellbeing practitioner, before moving to join a graduate healthcare consultancy programme on South London. After 2 years working in healthcare market research, I joined Novartis UK’s immunology marketing team. I have worked with Novartis in London, Switzerland and now reside in Montreal, Canada.
Why did you choose this career? And what do you enjoy most about your work?
I love my career helping patients access innovative medicines that can transform their lives. I enjoy working with doctors, nurses, pharmacists, regulators, and industry professionals so that we can work together on improving healthcare. There are many skills from University that I apply today.
Please tell us if you were a member of any societies, groups or sports clubs?
American Football and PsySoc.
What did you enjoy most about your programme and what was the biggest highlight?
It was an accelerated programme where we were actively working with UK leading experts on our faculty to change the way junior psychology practitioners are trained.
What did you enjoy most about studying here?
I met my wife and best friends here. The student life, the location, and the city/University campus layout — all match perfectly.
Why did you choose to study at Exeter?
It was a highly ranked university with lots of successful alumni.
What skills and experiences have been most useful for your career?
Psychology research project, and NHS placement.
What advice would you give to a current student who wishes to pursue your career?
I would advise that healthcare professional (doctors, nurses etc) are people too, and so it’s worth learning what consumers enjoy so that we can translate this to healthcare marketing.
What are your plans for the future?
To keep learning and developing my leadership skills to have a greater impact.
