Current Employer/Organisation Name
The Friedkin Group International
What have you been doing since leaving Exeter, and what are you doing now?
Since graduating with my BA in Anthropology and MSc in International Business, I secured a graduate job at a human capital advisory and consulting firm, Lutyens Advisory. The firm specialised in consulting and recruitment for Family Offices, primarily located in London and surrounding areas. I was in this role for a year and half before transitioning to the Friedkin Group International, the investment arm of the Friedkin Group. I am the London office’s manager and oversee the day-to-day operations of the office spanning administration, suppliers, and facilities to ensure the office runs smoothly and efficiently. I coordinate processes, streamline systems, and support the team to create a productive and well-structured working environment.
Why did you choose this career? And what do you enjoy most about your work?
I’ve always been drawn to roles that combine organisation, problem-solving, and people. Office management in a family office setting appealed to me because it offers variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to build efficient structures that make a real difference to how a team operates. I enjoy being in a role where I can create order, anticipate needs, and enable others to focus on their priorities.
Please tell us if you were a member of any societies, groups or sports clubs?
I was a Cox for the EUBC in my first and second year, I also joined the tennis club in my final year.
What did you enjoy most about your programme and what was the biggest highlight?
I really enjoyed how anthropology encouraged me to look at issues from different perspectives and to understand how culture shapes behaviour, values, and decision-making. It taught me to think critically, stay curious, and approach problems with an open mind. The biggest highlight for me was the range of topics we covered – from understanding social structures to looking at cultural differences. It gave me a broad perspective and really developed the way I think about people and organisations.
What did you most enjoy about studying here?
I really enjoyed the overall experience at Exeter – the mix of academic rigour and the vibrant campus community. Being able to explore different subjects while also taking part in clubs and societies made it a well-rounded and stimulating experience.
Why did you choose to study at Exeter?
I chose Exeter because of the campus, I was drawn to the community feel, the beautiful surroundings, and the sense that it would be a supportive and stimulating place to study.
What skills and experiences have been most useful for your career?
The most useful skills I gained from my degree have been organisation, adaptability, and communication. Working on group projects and navigating different viewpoints prepared me for the variety of tasks and relationships I handle in my office management role.
What advice would you give to a current student who wishes to pursue your career?
My advice would be to build both operational and people skills. Understanding how teams and organisations work, being able to coordinate multiple priorities, and learning to anticipate needs are all essential. Real-world experience, even through internships or voluntary roles, is incredibly useful.
What are your plans for the future?
My goal is to continue building my experience in operations and team support within The Friedkin Group International, while looking for ways to make processes more efficient and support the wider business. I’d like to gradually take on more strategic responsibilities and play a key role in ensuring the teams can focus on their priorities successfully.
