What have you been doing since leaving Exeter, and what are you doing now?

Site Supervision, Site management, project Engineering, Site Optimization, Logistics, Quality Control, Operations Management.

Why did you choose this career? And what do you enjoy most about your work?

Well paid, traditional local employment. Challenging environment that requires both technical and pragmatic problem solving.

CSM Hockey team 

What did you enjoy most about your programme and what was the biggest highlight?

Very high level of comradery, very dedicated course leaders. 

What did you enjoy most about studying here?

There was a large amount f course content and lecture time.

Why did you choose to study at Exeter?

I specifically chose to study mining engineering, Exeter, through Camborne School of Mines was the only university to offer this.

What skills and experiences have been most useful for your career?

Hard work, dedication, persistence and endurance.

What advice would you give to a current student who wishes to pursue your career?

It’s the best decision you can make for anyone hardworking. Get involved at every level and embrace the industry.

What are your plans for the future?

Continue along my current career path and keep an eye out for opportunities as they come along.

Since then I have had a very rewarding career as a geologist in the resources industry which has afforded me the opportunity to work across the globe. I spent a couple of years working in the coal industry in the UK, followed by 8 years working in Central Asia and Russia on a variety of projects ranging from operating open pit and underground gold mines through to exploration projects which advanced through scoping studies.
