What have you been doing since leaving Exeter, and what are you doing now?
Since leaving Exeter, I worked for two years as Assistant Director of Sport at Haileybury College, then returned to education, completing an MSc Sustainable Development at the University of St Andrews, before heading to the City of London where I work within the investment research team at portfolio management firm, Meridiem Investment Management.
Why did you choose this career? And what do you enjoy most about your work?
I have chosen this career because of the breadth and depth of opportunity it provides to study, engage and discuss with topical real world events. I get to apply my medical sciences undergrad when covering healthcare/life sciences companies and demographic structural trends, as well as considering broader macro economic and sustainable development themes which I focussed more on in my masters.
What skills and experiences have been most useful for your career?
Intellectual curiosity, communication, critical thinking, empathy and drive.
What advice would you give to a current student who wishes to pursue your career?
Read broadly, ask lots of questions. There is no correct or one path, but make your story and journey interesting where possible. Often by following things you are interested in, by default you become an interesting person, are able to add differentiated value and one people want to engage with.
