What have you been doing since leaving Exeter, and what are you doing now?
Since leaving Exeter, I undertook an MA in graphic design before becoming a graduate turned junior designer at Sky’s in-house creative agency.
Why did you choose this career? And what do you enjoy most about your work?
I wanted to do something creatively fulfilling which would have a positive impact. I enjoy being able to design for such large audiences and working on creative campaigns.
Please tell us if you were a member of any societies, groups or sports clubs?
I was part of sailing, contemporary choir, archaeology and forensics society.
What did you enjoy most about your programme and what was the biggest highlight?
I enjoyed learning about the past and how that impacts our current and even future. One of my highlights was having the opportunity to attend a q&a session with Steven Fry!
What did you most enjoy about studying here?
The beautiful grounds and proximity to the coast!
Why did you choose to study at Exeter?
I loved the course programme and also my family are from Exeter and I wanted to be close to them.
What skills and experiences have been most useful for your career?
Even though it doesnt seem like archaeology would have any overlap with design, it does! My dissertation focussed on studying Palaeolithic cave paintings and comparing to modern day street art and graffiti. This has really helped shape the way I think and approach communication design.
What advice would you give to a current student who wishes to pursue your career?
Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there! I had no formal training in design before my MA. As long as you can back yourself and show a passion for what you are talking about, you will get where you want to be!
What are your plans for the future?
I plan to continue as a designer within the entertainment and television/film industry, working my way up to midweight and eventually senior/creative director.
