What have you been doing since leaving Exeter, and what are you doing now?

I started my Career as an International Sales consultant at Unite Students and did both B2C and B2B management. And then I came to Sheffield University Management School as Employability Support Officer focusing on undergraduate placement support.

Why did you choose this career? And what do you enjoy most about your work?

I always want to have my career doing student support in Higher Education. Employability is something that’s more and more important but students might find it intimidating and are afraid of exploring different opportunities. Especially as a previous international student, I understand the extra barriers for international students regarding employability. Thus, I would like to contribute to this field and support students to have the confidence, ability, knowledge and experience to pursue any career that they would like to have. What I enjoy the most is seeing students grow. I literally enjoy seeing student’s every single progression. I’m so happy for them and I’m glad to be part of their journey.

What did you enjoy most about your programme and what was the biggest highlight?

I think it’s the atmosphere that every tutor and lecturer in our programme created. The biggest highlight would be the social event in June. As I studied in 20/21 academic year, most of my study time was spent in my accommodation. I understand how difficult it could be when teaching online with limited interaction. But our lecturer still tried their best to interact with us and stay in touch after class. They organised this informal social time before many of us leaving Exeter. (We completely followed the regulations of meeting during that time. Please don’t worry). It’s the first time I saw so many of my classmates and talked to my lecturers face to face. I’m so grateful for Jonathan and other lecturers’ effort (sorry I couldn’t remember everyone’s name) to make my journey an enjoyable one. Even now, I can still remember that beautiful sunny day at St Luke’s Campus.

After leaving Exeter, I took a short break from academia for personal reasons while making arrangements to start my PhD. During my dissertation at Exeter, I secured an exciting PhD opportunity, a joint project between the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and the University of Adelaide, Australia. I officially started my PhD on November 4 2024.
