What have you been doing since leaving Exeter, and what are you doing now?
After completing my Master’s in Public Health with a specialization in Global Health from the University of Exeter, I have been actively involved in multiple professional roles. I established my own clinic, Ojas Care Ayurvedic Clinic, where I work as a consulting Ayurvedic doctor, providing evening consultations to patients. From July 2024 to December 2024, I also worked as a remote tutor for the USA-based company Varsity Tutors LLC, teaching Biostatistics, public health, and science subjects to undergraduate students. Currently, I am serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Swasthavritta and Yoga (Preventive and Social Medicine) at the Doon Institute of Medical Sciences Ayurveda. I achieved this position after successfully clearing the NTET exam
Why did you choose this career? And what do you enjoy most about your work?
I chose this career because of my deep passion for healthcare and my commitment to improving the well-being of individuals through a holistic approach. My academic journey in Ayurvedic medicine and public health allowed me to blend traditional and modern medical practices, enabling me to provide comprehensive care to my patients. Teaching and mentoring students also gives me the opportunity to share my knowledge and contribute to shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals. What I enjoy most about my work is the ability to make a positive difference in people’s lives. Whether it’s helping a patient regain their health through Ayurvedic treatments or guiding students to achieve their academic and professional goals, I find immense fulfillment in seeing tangible results from my efforts. The diversity of my roles -consulting, teaching, and research keeps my work dynamic and rewarding.
Please tell us if you were a member of any societies, groups or sports clubs?
I was an active member of the Legions Dance Exeter Society and the Exeter University Badminton Society. Being part of these groups allowed me to pursue my passion for dancing and sports, develop teamwork skills, and maintain a healthy work-life balance
What did you enjoy most about your programme and what was the biggest highlight?
I thoroughly enjoyed every part of my program; it truly felt like a dream experience of a lifetime. The level of teaching and the teaching techniques at the University of Exeter were incredible. I had the opportunity to learn extensively about research work, including the importance of ethics in every aspect of it. The program emphasized dynamic learning methods, such as group discussions, case-based learning, and advanced presentation formats like Pecha Kucha. Being taught by highly qualified professors was truly inspiring, as their expertise and guidance helped me grow both academically and personally. The exposure to diverse cultures and ideas, along with meaningful interactions with professors and peers from various backgrounds, not only broadened my understanding but also enriched my learning experience. These experiences shaped me into a more confident, ethical, and well-rounded individual, making this program the highlight of my academic journey.
What did you most enjoy about studying here?
What I enjoyed most about studying at the University of Exeter was the opportunity to immerse myself in an intellectually stimulating environment that blended diverse perspectives and advanced learning techniques. The exposure to various cultures and academic ideas was enriching, and the supportive atmosphere fostered both personal and academic growth. The program’s unique teaching methods, including group discussions, case-based learning, and advanced presentations, allowed me to engage deeply with the material and develop valuable skills in research, ethics, and communication. Above all, being surrounded by highly qualified professors and like-minded peers made my experience truly rewarding and memorable.

As one of the leading universities in the UK, Exeter offered a rigorous and comprehensive program in public health and global health, which perfectly aligned with my academic and professional aspirations. Additionally, Exeter’s diverse learning environment and world-class faculty further motivated me to pursue my studies there.
What skills and experiences have been most useful for your career?
The skills and experiences that have been most useful for my career include my strong academic background in both Ayurvedic medicine and public health, which has provided me with a solid foundation to integrate traditional and modern healthcare practices. Additionally, my experience as a remote tutor with Varsity Tutors LLC allowed me to develop effective communication and teaching skills, which are essential in my current role as an Assistant Professor. Practical experiences such as consulting at my clinic and engaging in research have further honed my ability to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings. The skills I gained in research methodology, ethical practices, and advanced presentation techniques during my time at the University of Exeter have also been invaluable. Together, these experiences have shaped me into a versatile and capable professional, ready to contribute meaningfully to the fields of healthcare and education.
What advice would you give to a current student who wishes to pursue your career?
My advice for students who wish to pursue a career in this field is to focus on the course and dedicate quality time to your studies, as the journey can be challenging. While it’s tempting to prioritize money or part-time jobs, it’s important to understand that this field requires deep concentration, commitment, and passion. Take your learning seriously, stay consistent, and don’t compromise on the time and effort needed to fully grasp the concepts. Success in this career is built on a strong academic foundation, so make your studies the top priority and aim for excellence.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future include pursuing a PhD in the UK, building on my academic foundation and professional experience. I aim to establish a strong reputation through my work in both the clinical and academic fields, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in Ayurvedic medicine, public health, and preventive healthcare. By gaining further expertise and recognition, I hope to make a significant impact through research, teaching, and clinical practice, ultimately improving global health outcomes.
