What did you enjoy most about your degree programme?
I enjoyed the practical side of my degree programme the most, for example the first year mock employment tribunals and the third year negotiation role plays.
Some of the students we are profiling have been awarded a departmental prize or award in recognition of their exceptional achievements. If this applies to you, please can you tell us about this and what it means to you?
I have been awarded the Dickson Gleeson trust prize for achieving the highest academic achievement in the trust module.
This award means an incredible amount to me, as going into my final year at university I was extremely nervous as this is the year where every item of work you submit counts for the most weight of your overall grade, I had also researched the trust module and it seemed to me that this was a very complicated area of law. I was initially very apprehensive to start the module and although it was challenging I pushed through and used all the available resources that were being provided by the law school.
Being awarded the prize proved to myself that when you rise to a challenge and don’t allow your fears to take over you can achieve more than you may expect.
Please tell us if you were a member of any societies, groups or sports clubs?
I was a member of the African Caribbean society and acted as their events manager in my second year at Exeter.
What was the highlight of your time at Exeter?
My highlight being a student at Exeter was when third term rolls around and the weather is starting to get better you have the time to go to the beach with friend’s and you see so many people on campus enjoying the sunshine.
What will you miss the most about University?
I will miss the close knit community that you find at university, everyone is so friendly and everyone is happy to be themselves, there is no judgment and you will never walk through campus and not see a familiar friendly face.
What advice would you give to current and future students? (If you are an international student what would you like to tell future students from back home who might be thinking about applying to study in Exeter?)
For future students I would advise that you cherish and enjoy every moment of your time at Exeter your first year of fun flies by and before you know it you’ll be in second year, although the workload gets heavier enjoy it, make sure every single piece of work you hand in is a piece that you are proud of but also make time to enjoy your social aspects get involved with societies and leadership roles within them and make new friends even in your final year.
What are your plans now that you have graduated?
Now that I have graduated, I will be starting my role as a graduate associate at the Financial Conduct Authority this coming September.
