What have you been doing since leaving Exeter, and what are you doing now?
Since graduating Exeter in 2022, I have explored all aspects of working in the Film/ TV industry. I began as an in-house runner, after which I went on to assist the producer on a Netflix TV series. I have since worked full time for an internationally renowned film Director, and am now working within the in-house Film Development team at Working Title Films.
Why did you choose this career? And what do you enjoy most about your work?
I love how fast paced, random, exciting (and terrifying!) this industry is. No two days are the same, and you get to work alongside some incredibly fun and interesting people along the way.
What did you enjoy most about your programme and what was the biggest highlight?
I enjoyed the scope of the Philosophy module and learning it’s involvement and influence across the board.
What did you most enjoy about studying here?
The people are the BEST and the general vibe on campus too.
Why did you choose to study at Exeter?
I had heard good things!
What skills and experiences have been most useful for your career?
Studying Philosophy at the University of Exeter helped me develop strong critical thinking and analytical skills, which I use daily in film development. Breaking down complex ideas, questioning assumptions, and communicating clearly has been especially useful when reading scripts, giving feedback, and discussing projects. The degree also strengthened my research and problem-solving skills, helping me assess material, develop ideas, and contribute thoughtfully to creative conversations.
What advice would you give to a current student who wishes to pursue your career?
Persevere, learn as much as you can from the course, and use that knowledge to build a foundational understanding of the industry- how it works, the different sides of it, and which direction you want to focus your energy on when applying for roles.
What are your plans for the future?
Alongside my full time job, I have set up a film production company, SkyeAngel Productions, which I co-found. We are currently in the realm of producing short films, with the hope to move to features someday.
