What have you been doing since leaving Exeter, and what are you doing now?

Following my time at Exeter, I returned to my home country and dedicated my efforts to the application process for academic positions. I am pleased to share that I have accepted a position as a Lecturer in Marketing, starting December 2024.

Why did you choose this career? And what do you enjoy most about your work?

I chose this career because I am passionate about both research and teaching. I find great satisfaction in exploring new ideas and sharing that knowledge with students and colleagues.

Were you part of the Exeter Student Ambassador Scheme at any point during your studies?

I was selected for a student content scheme with the Exeter Guild, but unfortunately, due to my return to Vietnam in September, I was unable to participate.

What did you enjoy most about your programme and what was the biggest highlight?

What I enjoyed most was how the program fueled my passion for research and academia. The biggest highlight was undoubtedly my dissertation. It provided a unique opportunity to develop my research skills by undertaking a project from scratch, and I’m incredibly grateful for the guidance and support I received from my supervisor.

What did you most enjoy about studying here?

The friendly and supportive environment of the Business School, and Exeter in general, also contributed significantly to my positive experience, making Exeter feel like a true home away from home.

What skills and experiences have been most useful for your career?

In addition to critical thinking, resilience, and time management, I would also highlight strong communication skills as essential. Critical thinking enables thorough analysis, while resilience allows me to overcome challenges. Time management ensures efficient workflow and effective communication facilitates collaboration and the dissemination of research findings. My experiences working in diverse teams have been particularly instrumental in developing my communication skills and fostering an understanding of and respect for diverse perspectives and working styles. These skills, honed through my dissertation and all the teamwork, have been invaluable in my academic and professional development.

What advice would you give to a current student who wishes to pursue your career?

I would advise focusing on developing strong research skills, seeking out opportunities to gain teaching experience, and building a strong network within the field.

What are your plans for the future?

My primary goal is to build a strong academic profile to pursue a PhD in Marketing/ Management.
