What have you been doing since leaving Exeter, and what are you doing now?

Graduated in July 2024, and then started my graduate scheme and working towards the ICAS qualification. Currently I am in my second placement, working as a Treasury Analyst in the Liquidity Metrics Management team.

Why did you choose this career? And what do you enjoy most about your work?

Always wanted to work in the city after graduation, and I like working with numbers, so a grad scheme in banking seemed like a good fit. I am really enjoying learning what the numbers mean, and the reasons behind various trends across the banks balance sheet and in the industry.

Please tell us if you were a member of any societies, groups or sports clubs?

I joined the Rugby society and Snow Sports society.

What did you enjoy most about your programme and what was the biggest highlight?

I enjoyed studying a multidisciplinary degree, where we could take modules across physics, maths, bio and Chem. Specifically I liked physics modules such as relativity and quantum mechanics. A highlight was getting a paper published in third year with a group of NatSci students.

What did you most enjoy about studying here?

I really liked my course, and also that the beach was only a short drive away.

Why did you choose to study at Exeter?

The Natural Sciences course let me study physics modules even though I didn’t take Physics A Level.

What skills and experiences have been most useful for your career?

Interpersonal skills are just as important as technical skills, so it’s important to be confident in your ability and comfortable talking to lots of different people. Time management is also a very useful skill to have.

What advice would you give to a current student who wishes to pursue your career?

Apply to as many different roles and companies as you can.

What are your plans for the future?

Get experience in a number of different areas of banking, and eventually work abroad at some point.
