What did you enjoy most about your degree programme?

What i enjoyed about my degree is during the period of doing my dissertation. Actually, it was a challenge for me, and I struggled with it. Since I have never done similar work before. I need to check a variety of journals and learn new applications to analyse data. However, I was so pleasant and enjoyed this process. Since at that time, I received assistance form my experienced supervisor. He provided me with detailed guidance which help me deal with the problems i met. Meanwhile, I also got the help from my classmates. They cared about me a lot when I was in a bad mood. In addition, I learned how to use specialized application to analyse data for my work. That is my first time to learn a new thing by myself. As a result, when I submit my dissertation, I felt a sense of achievement.

What was the highlight of your time at Exeter?

My highlight time in Exeter is I did some efforts for others. I mean I was rewarding the time that I spent my free time to do some voluntary job in community centre. I worked for bake house and community centre kitchen. When i shared my sweets to homeless people and helped them, I felt pleasant. In the future, I will continue my voluntary work. I hope people on the earth can feel warm from others.

What will you miss the most about University?

I will miss the period that I hard work for my dissertation and the local friends here. The period of hard working made me concentrate on my field . I was able to explore the academic field in which I was interested. Meanwhile, during that period , it gave me courage and confidence. It also ispired me that I have ability to explore new field that I am interested in. In addition, I am thankful for local friends here. I met them in local church, they provide me some local culture from which I felt culture shock between us. But it also broadens my horizon. What more, they are very friendly, they took me to local attractions and invited me to try local food. These lovely experience will become my valuable memory in my life.

What advice would you give to current and future students? (If you are an international student what would you like to tell future students from back home who might be thinking about applying to study in Exeter?)

As an international student, I can feel and experience problems when we live and study abroad. The main challenge is language. Considering English is our second language, we are not able to as familiar with it as native speakers. However, it is necessary and compulsory to conquer it for our interaction, essay , journals and culture exchange. The suggestion from my perspective is that utilizing the period when you live and study in the Uk, making friends and interacting with them without mother language. As well as grasp the chances to join local activities which can improve your language skill.

What are your plans now that you have graduated?

I will find a job related to English. Since I like English very much, I enjoy the moment when I interact with others in English.

The program, although only for a year, allowed me to further venture into the understanding of not only being a teacher, but to also understand the how the culture and environment can affect the English learning of students. Further, the more I delved deeper into TESOL, I was able to understand my potential as a Teacher and effectively apply what I have learnt in the course to my classroom context.
