After graduating from the University of Exeter, I went to the University of Warwick for a master’s degree. Then I joined HSBC.
Why did you choose this career? And what do you enjoy most about your work?
This role is a good match for what I studied at Exeter. I enjoy interacting with people from different backgrounds and using HSBC as a platform to reach out to other industries and build relationships with them.
Please tell us if you were a member of any societies, groups or sports clubs?
I was a member of Debating Society.
Were you part of the Exeter Student Ambassador Scheme at any point during your studies?
Yes.
What did you enjoy most about your programme and what was the biggest highlight?
This program is highly related to the course content of the ACCA exam. I enjoy Exeter’s excellent course configuration, the combination of accounting content and financial knowledge, and gradually deepening my understanding.
What did you enjoy most about studying here?
Every lecturer is very supportive, the lessons are very efficient and fulfilling, and students are given a lot of time to answer questions after class. The lecturers were always full of patience.
Why did you choose to study at Exeter?
Because of your international reputation, as one of the few business schools with triple accreditation, Exeter Business School has demonstrated strong faculty and supporting resources. This is the result of the collaboration of all faculty and staff throughout the college. During the pandemic, Exeter Business School also quickly made changes to build a digital teaching platform to support student participation in the curriculum across geographies, all thanks to the school’s effective organization and management.
What skills and experiences have been most useful for your career?
The accounting knowledge I learned helped me understand the business situation, and the financial knowledge I learned helped me to analyse and predict the development of the industry, which helped me to serve customers more professionally in the private banking industry.
What advice would you give to a current student who wishes to pursue your career?
Participate in more internships before working full-time. This way you will see the authentic side of an industry and judge whether you are really suitable for the industry.
What are your plans for the future?
I would like to move to Hong Kong.
