What have you been doing since leaving Exeter, and what are you doing now?

Joined State Street the day after graduation in 2019. I completed a graduate programme of 3 rotations in Global Markets Change Management, Global Advisors ESG Investment Strategy & Global Markets Business Management. In 2021, I secured a permanent position in Global Markets business management.

Why did you choose this career? And what do you enjoy most about your work?

I tried various different industries through work experience placements from law to shipping to asset management. In 2018 I completed a 2 month internship at State Street. I found the company very easy to navigate as everyone said “yes” whenever approached for a meeting. In 2 months I met over 100 different people. It was this that encouraged me to apply to the grad scheme and this that I continue to enjoy the most – the ability to meet with people of all seniorities and learn as much as possible.

What did you enjoy most about your programme and what was the biggest highlight?

I enjoyed the variety of the 3 subjects and the ability to find a specialty that touched on all 3.

What did you enjoy most about studying here?

The campus and the people.

Why did you choose to study at Exeter?

The course & the campus.

What skills and experiences have been most useful for your career?

Varied work experience placements of different industries and communication & organisation skills.

What advice would you give to a current student who wishes to pursue your career?

Reach out to alumni in the industry, get as much work experience as possible and have an open mind to all roles – nit many people stay in the same type of role they carved out in their mind when they were 18.

What are your plans for the future?

Continue to learn as much as possible in the next couple years, find a speciality and progress in that field.
