What have you been doing since leaving Exeter, and what are you doing now?
Working on our family automotive spare parts business in Karachi, Pakistan developing and organising the current business model and then expanding in the supply chain.
Why did you choose this career? And what do you enjoy most about your work?
Entrepreneurship is my passion and having grown up in an automotive business family this passion was fostered as I grew up. I love the continuous learning and challenges that come my way working on a business in an economy which is transforming and this is what keeps me awake.
What did you enjoy most about your programme and what was the biggest highlight?
The diversity in my class and how there was focus on applying knowledge to the industry and to solve real world problems. Group assignments and team work instead of exams based on just reproducing information.
Why did you choose to study at Exeter?
The location which includes the beautiful campus, closeness to beaches etc and how Exeter is a “small city” a city but small and cosy. The ranking and Russell Group membership really matters of course. I really loved how the course was detailed yet covered all important aspects of the subject.
What skills and experiences have been most useful for your career?
The discussion friendly and diverse environment at Exeter fostered open thinking in me and really helped me think “out of the box”. Hearing new perspectives on life generally and my subject allows me to look at my business and any decision from different angles. My experience as a student ambassador gave me the confidence to overcome my fears such as public speaking.
What advice would you give to a current student who wishes to pursue your career?
Be open to new experiences, take initiate and use the university website and it’s resources as much as you can and start as early as possible. Bond with your colleagues, make friends and travel around. The campus greens allow you to read, spend some time self reflecting alongside enjoying a nice night out in the city.
What are your plans for the future?
I want to expand the business and with that give back to society and my country by providing jobs and making a good quality product. I want to enjoy life and leave an impact which stays there even after I am gone.
