What have you been doing since leaving Exeter, and what are you doing now?

Straight after leaving Exeter I did a MSc in Reproduction and Development at the University of Bristol. After this I worked in IVF laboratories as an Andrologist and Trainee Embryologist. I am currently working 2 days a week as an Andrologist and spend the rest of my time writing fertility-related content.

Why did you choose this career? And what do you enjoy most about your work?

Reproduction has always fascinated me. Many people don’t know this but human fertility has been dropping over recent years. I love that I get to help people achieve their goal of starting a family.

Please tell us if you were a member of any societies, groups or sports clubs?

Biology Society.

What did you enjoy most about your programme and what was the biggest highlight?

Final year development module with Dr Kudoh.

What did you enjoy most about studying here?

Lovely campus and great friends.

Why did you choose to study at Exeter?

Really enjoyed the open day I attended and the curriculum was interesting to me.

What skills and experiences have been most useful for your career?

Laboratory skills learn during my dissertation.

What advice would you give to a current student who wishes to pursue your career?

Apply for lots of work experience – it can be hard to get your foot in the door of the fertility sector but you can show your enthusiasm by visiting different IVF labs and seeing how they do things.

What are your plans for the future?

At some point I would love to have a teaching aspect to my job.
