What have you been doing since leaving Exeter, and what are you doing now?

I have been a personal trainer since I left University. I started off working in a council gym, then went travelling, the came back and worked in a private members gym, then went travelling again and finally came back and went self employed.

Why did you choose this career? And what do you enjoy most about your work?

My degree was in Exercise and Sports Science so it was a natural progression from that as I’ve always had a keen interest in sport and anatomy. I love helping people achieve things they didn’t think possible.

Please tell us if you were a member of any societies, groups or sports clubs?

I was a member of the women’s football and rugby teams.

What did you enjoy most about your programme and what was the biggest highlight?

I loved learning all about how the body works but I also really enjoyed the sociology side of sport and exercise.

What did you enjoy most about studying here?

The sports clubs and social side were great.

Why did you choose to study at Exeter?

It’s got a great reputation and is close to my home.

What skills and experiences have been most useful for your career?

Starting from the bottom and working my way to where I am now. Learning from people who are better at my job than me as been really important.

What advice would you give to a current student who wishes to pursue your career?

Work hard and listen carefully. Surround yourself with people who know more than you do.

What are your plans for the future?

To create a successful business.
