What have you been doing since leaving Exeter, and what are you doing now?

I worked for 3 years as a microbiologist running EU projects. Then I underwent an MBA specialising in project management and switched fields to the electricity industry. I worked for National Grid for 7 years, a control systems company for 2 years, a main works contractor in the water industry for 2 years and currently I am a director of a project management consultancy specialising in utilities.

Why did you choose this career? And what do you enjoy most about your work?

I realised I had a passion for project management and wanted to secure a career in this field. I undertook an MBA to transfer my skills and then joined National Grid on an experienced hire training scheme. I have always wanted to run a business and grow and nurture in house talent and as a director of Rowfield and get to do this.as not.

What did you enjoy most about your programme and what was the biggest highlight?

My friendships that I made at Exeter are life long and were the highlight for me. I enjoyed my course, however I probably should have studied engineering or business.

Why did you choose to study at Exeter?

It was my first choice, the university was amazing on the open day and I love being near the countryside

What skills and experiences have been most useful for your career?

Perseverance and dedication to work. I have pride In my work and always seek to give professional and timely outputs.

What advice would you give to a current student who wishes to pursue your career?

Gain contacts. My professional network has helped me massively in my career. Make sure you have an active linked in page and always keep and updated cv to hand.

What are your plans for the future?

Grow Rowfield. We have an aggressive growth plan and aim to rival our competitors over the next few years.
