What have you been doing since leaving Exeter, and what are you doing now?
After completing my Masters, I spent two years at MJ Hudson in an investment consultancy/advisory role. I then moved to IP Group plc, who are the most active UK based, early-stage science investor. We develop and support spinout companies and start-ups in deeptech, life sciences and cleantech – my role is focused on all of the businesses in our current portfolio, modelling new investment rounds and determining the valuation to place on a company.
Why did you choose this career? And what do you enjoy most about your work?
I enjoy working at IP Group because it’s a chance to support genuinely innovative companies coming out of top universities. Venture capital keeps things varied and fast-paced, and it’s rewarding to help founders navigate the early stages of building something impactful. One of the best parts is seeing the companies evolve from an idea into something that genuinely changes lives.
