What did you enjoy most about your degree programme?
What I enjoyed most about my degree programme was the freedom it gave me to explore such a wide range of topics, especially once I had reached my third and fourth years. This enabled me to narrow my studies to feminist politics and philosophy, and research complex social pressing issues.
Some of the students we are profiling have been awarded a departmental prize or award in recognition of their exceptional achievements. If this applies to you, please can you tell us about this and what it means to you?
I was awarded the Goldsmith Prize for my contribution to the politics department as a result of my collaboration with the department in organising and hosting international women’s day-themed academic events as the Politics Society Careers and Alumni officer. I was so surprised to receive this award, I didn’t even know it was a thing! But to receive the award was such an honour, and I felt very proud of our work.
Please tell us if you were a member of any societies, groups or sports clubs?
I have been a member of the politics society throughout my whole university experience, as welfare secretary in second year, and careers and alumni officer in my final fourth year.
What was the highlight of your time at Exeter?
The highlight of my time at Exeter has without a doubt been the friends I have made, both old and new, through politics society, my course, and accommodation. While Exeter is already a fantastic university, it is the people you surround yourself with that make it such an incredible phase of your life.
What will you miss the most about University?
I will miss the life I have created for myself which has been full of love and adventure, and the freedom that being a student gives you to map out your life on your own terms entirely. However i am very excited to start the next chapter.
What advice would you give to current and future students? (If you are an international student what would you like to tell future students from back home who might be thinking about applying to study in Exeter?)
The main bit of advice I have to give is to push yourself out of your comfort zone, try everything, and try not to let fear hold you back, and sign up for all the clubcards, that too!
What are your plans now that you have graduated?
I am currently on the hunt for a job in London working in the NGO and public sector in research, policy, or communications!
