Can you give us an overview of what you have done since you completed your research degree?
Taught in a secondary school, worked at CCCU as a PGCE tutor, was a PGCE course director, education director of learning and teaching, director of curriculum and now Associate Dean (Student Success).
How did you become interested in the area you work in?
I’ve always wanted to work in a university.
How did you find opportunities in the area you work in and how did the recruitment process work?
I applied to an advert in TES and then it was all internal.
What does your current role involve?
I am responsible for continuous improvement, university monitoring and evaluation framework, collaborative partnership approval, TEF, APP, and B3 outcomes.
What skills are involved in your work and how did your research degree help develop them?
Stats.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
Working in a university.
What are the challenges in your role?
Being responsible for TEF, APP and B3!
What skills and experiences have been most useful for your career?
Stats and computing.
What advice would you give to a current student who wishes to pursue your career?
Teaching is still the quickest way into university.
What are your plans for the future?
Maybe an IT job.
