What did you enjoy most about your degree programme?
I really enjoyed the variety of modules covering many areas of theatrical creativity I hadn’t learned before – my favourite module was Activism & Performance during second year, where we discovered viewing the art of protest as a performance and developed our own “activist performance” presentation in groups on a chosen topic.
Some of the students we are profiling have been awarded a departmental prize or award in recognition of their exceptional achievements. If this applies to you, please can you tell us about this and what it means to you?
I received a Department Commendation for Contribution to the Life of the Department, as recognition for my work as a Student Rep and Subject Chair, working to achieve positive change to the development of the course, utilising and presenting student feedback to staff and developing strategies from student opinions.
Please tell us if you were a member of any societies, groups or sports clubs?
I was a part of three societies: Theatre with Teeth, Drama Society and Make a Smile (the third of which I setup as a society during my second year). I was on committee for Drama Society during my final year, as the Society Treasurer, and President of Make
What was the highlight of your time at Exeter?
Making new friends and being part of such a warm and welcoming community. Sharing moments like going out to nightclub or even staying in and watching a film together are really memorable.
What will you miss the most about University?
Can’t say at the moment – I will be returning to Exeter in Sept 2022 for Masters.
What advice would you give to current and future students? (If you are an international student what would you like to tell future students from back home who might be thinking about applying to study in Exeter?)
Enjoy your time there! Exeter is an amazing university and amazing city – make sure to visit the Quay and don’t be afraid to go to the nightclubs every now and then.
What are your plans now that you have graduated?
What I learned from my course has expanded my knowledge from the ‘basics’ as it were, and I have set a plan to set up my own theatre company, which I plan to do with assistance from some old friends. However, I feel I need to streamline my focus, and therefore I will be back in Exeter in September continuing my studies at Masters level, to ensure I have the efficient knowledge for this plan.
