What have you been doing since leaving Exeter, and what are you doing now?

I had a job as Customer Success Intern at Arctic Shores (SAAS company that creates a behaviour based gamified assessment) and now work at Orbis, a tech recruitment agency, in the HR department.

Why did you choose this career? And what do you enjoy most about your work?

I always enjoyed Organisational Psychology, I like being part of positive change and making sure people feel well taken care of and heard.

What did you enjoy most about studying here?

The quality of teaching was excellent, the professors were very engaged and incredibly knowledgeable, interesting and genuinely helpful.

What skills and experiences have been most useful for your career?

Learning how to conduct research, be sure you are finding reliable sources as well as learning how to analyse research has been very useful. Understanding dynamics of the workplace and what to do in certain situations, backed up by research has also been very useful.

What advice would you give to a current student who wishes to pursue your career?

especially if you don’t have previous work experience within it or related to it, but use LinkedIn and your network there to your advantage. Don’t be shy to message people on LinkedIn, you have nothing to lose. And always remember, the job application process is in no way reflective of your value as a person or candidate. Try as hard as you can to not take it personally, because there is a lot of rejection during the process. Use all the resources out there to re-work your CV and cover letter. Simple is ALWAYS better, don’t use a fancy/pretty template for your CV because ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems) can’t analyse those templates and will therefore automatically reject you because it can’t scan or read your CV for keywords etc. There is a TON of content on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube to help you in your job application journey. Use any resources you have and what is best for you will come to you, trust the process and trust yourself and your own worth!

To make a long story short, I’ll just mention some milestones: When I returned to my MBA sponsor, the Turkish Treasury, in 1996, I was transferred from the research department to the debt office as a specialist, and I did not initially realize that this was a major turning point in my career. I would see how my MBA education and thesis topic, risk management, would impact my professional career in the next few years
