What have you been doing since leaving Exeter, and what are you doing now?

I did a PhD. Now I am a lecturer at a university in Beijing.

Why did you choose this career? And what do you enjoy most about your work?

I like doing research and would like to continue my career in academia. I enjoy challenging myself and expanding my research interest to different fields.

What did you enjoy most about your programme and what was the biggest highlight?

The programme encouraged me a lot and helped me to identify my future career direction. I didn’t know I had the ability to do research or write research papers, I didn’t even think of it. But the programme helped me to dig out my ability and potential. The lecturers and professors I met during the programme were my role models.

What did you enjoy most about studying here?

Diligent and professional academic staff, harmonious relationship between students and lecturers, inspiring lessons, fascinating research experience.

Why did you choose to study at Exeter?

I took many aspects into consideration. The location, the reputation of the university, the weather, and the programme design.

What skills and experiences have been most useful for your career?

Interest and courage in doing research, a critical view.

What advice would you give to a current student who wishes to pursue your career?

Make use of all the resources, including library, conferences, talks and more; create chances to talk to lectures and your colleges; be brave to share your thoughts.

What are your plans for the future?

Think more, write more, talk more, publish more, teach more, be more influential, and get promoted.
